This is Room 49B. Haitian paintings by Hilome Jose
Hilome Jose was born in 1947 in the town of Jeremie on the southwestern tip pf Haiti. He moved to Port-au- Prince in the late 1960's and worked as a carpenter. Through a mutual friend he made the acquaintance of the Haitian master Calixe Henry and began to paint. He is a journeyman knife painter with a distinctive style. |
