This is Room . A Haitian painting by Jean-Claude Leganeur.
Leganeur was born in Haiti in 1947 and studied after high school with the modern painters Bernard Wah, Raphael Denis, Villard Denis and Luckner Lazard. He traveled to America and studied in Chicago, then in New York at the Art Students League and at the Brooklyn Museum. He returned to Haiti in 1975 and became a prominent member of the School of Beauty with Jean-Rene Jerome, Simil and Bernard Sejourne. He is a master of subtle coloration. His representations of Haitian women are sensitive and his still-lifes are in a class by themselves. |
