A Gallery of Haitian Art
SINCE 1974

This is Room 327.
Work by the master
Murat Brierre

If Georges Liautaud was the king, Murat Brierre was the crown prince of Haitian Metal sculpture in Croix des Bouquets, Haiti, beginning in the 1950's. As often happens, the student eclipses the master. Brierre sadly passed away in 1988 at age 50. He was a sophisticated man, as at home in a museum in New York as he was in his neighborhood of Noilles. He opened his own gallery in Port-au-Prince in 1985. His work is in museums around the world.

His work is scarce.
