#203 Felix Jean 24x36 " ca. 1976 "Cermony for Agoue" $1800 In fine carved wooden Haitian Frame SOLD 9/03 * To honor Agoue, Vodou Lord of the Sea, his devotees build a small raft with sides, called "The Barque of Agoue". They fill the barque with Agoue's favorite foods and drink, take it to the sea, put it on a boat and row or sail it out into the ocean. They lift the barque from the boat and set it gently on the sea. When it sinks, this means that Agoue has accepted their offering. |
