A Haitian painting by Gary Vincent

••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

Gary Vincent was born in Cap Haitien in 1968.
He began painting around 1980 when he joined the the art co-op "Arc-en-Ciel",
which was founded by the painters Laetitia Schutt and Max Gerbier.

His good friend growing up was Frantz Zephirin who learned to paint sitting as a child at the feet of his uncle, Antoine Obin. Gary and Zephirin went to Port au-Prince together in the mid to late 1980's.

Gary Vincent is a supurb technician and his best paintings
contain a surreal spiritual element.

His work has been exhibited around the world.
He retired from painting for some years and became
a police officer in Haiti, but is said to be back painting again.
